This is a story I wrote getting on for five years ago and has had some tweaks, nips and tucks in its time. It was written with the intention of examining both colonisation and the subjectivity of the decisions behind them. Being me, it’s somewhat clumsily handled but it seems to have worked.

Two Hearts? Doesn’t That Sound A Little Familiar?

Yeah, you got me. I’m a Doctor Who fan. I’m not as knowledgeable and informed about the world(s) as some but I have attachment to some things that turn up – particularly “Nu Who”. This is an interest I share with my writing sister Amber Fox to the point where, back in 2008, we came up with a feasible way of getting Jenny back into the story lines.

(For those who don’t know who Jenny is, here’s the Wikipedia article: [External Link])

We got a little enthusiastic, came up with a story line we really loved and ended up stripping out large parts of the world to disconnect it from Doctor Who. Our shared world stalled shortly after, though, as it was a massive undertaking for two fledgling writers who barely knew each other (at that stage) and one of whom had a tendency to get easily distracted with shiny new ideas (that would be me).

I did, however, employ my butterfly mind in jumping into another place and time in the shared world to have a look around – and the result is Two Hearts, Two Minds. The two hearts are literal, the two minds are metaphorical.
