Let’s start with the deadline. If you’re attending ChapterCon in London at the end of August, you can pre-order some of the writers’ books through various Google forms. I have linked them on my ChapterCon mess o’links. This includes being able to pre-order a number of my books: 25 Ways To Kill A Werewolf, A Pack Of Lies, Fool If You Think It’s Over, all the Fox Spirit Monster anthologies to date and all of the Fox Pockets. At a slight discount.

I am making a big deal out of this because a) the deadline for ordering is the end of this month (i.e. Wednesday 31st May) and b) I’m going to be a bit of a miser about lugging books around England, so I’ll otherwise have limited numbers of the Elkie books with me and only my own copies of the others so that I can show off some signatures and persuade those of you who missed out to order them on-line.

Somewhat closer on the horizon, I shall be on (local) radio on Saturday, North Manchester FM between 2pm and 4pm to be precise. The lovely Hannah Kate has invited me to talk on Hannah’s Book Shelf and there’s a post with all the details here [External Link]. I may be mildly nervous. OK, a lot. Mainly because I’m terrible at remembering names and titles so you can expect me to tail off at least once in the two hours while I struggle to remember who or what I’m supposed to be mentioning. It might even be often enough to make it into a drinking game. But not while I’m actually there, obviously.

Finally, here’s your reward for being patient people. I remembered to put up the opening paragraphs of my current Greenwood WIP set (as promised). They’re at various stages of draft, so what I’ve put up may not be exactly what they read like by the time they’re published – if they’re published. Feedback, as always, welcome!

Sunday 13th March, 2016

Yet again, I missed a week. Last weekend I was recovering from the official Forbidden Planet African Monster’s launch party. I did manage to put up a few postcards for Miss Mousie, though. You can see them here:

I think the evening was successful and the socialising during and after the event was definitely good fun. I stayed in London long enough to go to the Leon Paul shop [External Link] for some new fencing shoes and to attend the Waterloo Sparring Group [External Link].

And this week has disappeared into Real Life.

Sunday 28th February, 2016

Yeah, I skipped a week. There are going to be a few weekends like that with still having a house about 70 miles away from where I currently live that I’m hoping to sell. Anyway, on to things you may care about.

The Otherworld Gazetteer [External Link] is back up and running. I’m thinking of opening it up to other people and / or shifting it to a more obviously wiki format and host (which would then leave me with some wordpress space to work out what I want to do with, but that’s a problem for another day). If any of that world-sharing appeals, please get in touch and let me know.

I was spotted at the 5th Sheffield Social and there are photos of me on Facebook to prove it. For a change, someone else managed to get the drop on the Mousie postcard and you can see a picture of Mousie out and about on Adele Wearing’s twitter feed here: [External Link]

I have a couple of Mousie photos with some books stacked up but I’m waiting until after the official launch party for African Monsters on March 3rd at Forbidden Planet, London to put them out. And, yes, I shall be taking Mousie if she remembers to get into my backpack.

And my last thing to mention: Adele and I did a book count and I’ve made my Ink Plan-related donation to National Autism Society (NAS) [External Link]

Monday 15th February, 2016

Happy Valentine’s Day for yesterday. I hope you spent it either with someone you love (not necessarily romantically) or doing something you love.

The web-site’s been a bit odd due to host updates the last few days so the update was delayed this week but here’s the short and sweet catch up:

  1. I was a little too sickly last weekend to post an update but I did get my latest post up at The Finishing School [External Link] on Wednesday 3rd February.
  2. I’ve sorted out my latest batch of Otherworld Gazetteer [External Link] posts. They’ve gone live tomorrow and I’ll be scheduling some spotlight tweets to run Tuesdays and Thursdays for the individual posts.
  3. Next week I shall be at Sheffield pub-meet-y social thing (more here)
  4. In a fortnight, I shall be at the official launch party for African Monsters on March 3rd at Forbidden Planet, London.

There. All caught up!

Monday 1st February, 2016

A slightly delayed update due to running out of spoons (a reference explained here, with links to the original explanation using spoons) a couple of times last week, including the weekend. In positive news, I have a post for The Finishing School [External Link] due on Wednesday.

Part of that was making it over to the York / BSFA social (which I hadn’t been sure I would make, so didn’t link on site. The next similar thing will be the Sheffield social (more here) in February and I hope to make it there, rest of life allowing. Don’t forget there’s an official launch party for African Monsters on March 3rd at Forbidden Planet, London.

SFSF Social #5

The Sheffield Fantasy & Science Fiction Social Club [External Link] will be having their fifth social [External Link], a night of readings and chat in Sheffield;
20th February, 2016;
Sheffield, England

My publisher, Adele Wearing, will be one of the speakers / readers and I understand that a few of my bits and bobs may get mentioned (specifically African Monsters, I think).

Sunday 4th October, 2015

Writing has basically ground to a halt and it may be stop start for the foreseeable future (adventures are in the offing and I may admit to more about that at a later date). However, the editing project (African Monsters, due out for the end of this year with an official launch next year) and the last of the Elkie trilogy (currently titled “Fool if you think it’s over” and, yes, sorry, act of trilogy committed) is in hand so that should be out when it fits in the Fox Spirit [External Link] schedule next year.

Part of the current slow down is due to spending more time than is probably healthy watching the Rugby (Union) World Cup. I actually attended a couple of Wales matches at the Millennium stadium in the last couple of weeks, so that’s taken a huge bite out of my regular routines. However, it was totally worth it!

And I have a new sword, so I need to write a little post on that some time this week.

Oh, and I have a sword-related post coming up at The Finishing School [External Link] on Wednesday, so look out for that.

Sunday 27th September, 2015

Progress on my Feathers has been very slow these last few weeks. Mainly down to watching rugby when I should probably be writing or doing other chores. There has even been time off from the day job in order to attend a match in Cardiff – and another one this week.

However, I have been a good little editor and achieved a few tasks related to the forthcoming African Monsters (follow up to the European Monsters volume). We’re aiming for November / December for publishing but there will be an official launch in early 2016, so look out for some news on that in a few months’ time.
