Back at the beginning of May, I included all my social media links in a site diary. However, since then I’ve made a slight change to the way I use BookLikes [External Link] in that I only post quotes (when I remember to note some down) from things I’ve been reading. I decided to stop quoting my works in progress, and deleted the ones I’d already made, when I realised it was probably tantamount to spamming with stuff that no-one wanted to see on a site about published books.

I’ve also updated my languages page to include the fact that I’ve started learning Norwegian – and am now getting to a stage where I’m prepared to exercise it on occasion. I’ve also tweaked the details for my Welsh learning as I don’t put as much effort into that as I should, at the moment.

The change you’re more likely to notice about the place, however, is the announcement of another acceptance. Technically, Let’s Stay Together has been accepted for some time but the editor, Michael S Collins [External Link], has onyl recently been in a position to announce the anthology. So, here’s to The Christmas Book of Ghosts [External Link], to be published in aid of Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland [External Link]. They’re looking for submissions, so please take a look!

And news on my wordpress space! The Otherworld Gazetteer – based on (some more) behind the scenes notes for Hunting Unicorns – has come into being. So far, I have the about page [External Link] and the first entry [External Link]. The idea is to get a bit of a link-soup wiki-type thing going on, so fingers crossed that you all enjoy it. Of course, it goes without saying that I wouldn’t have decided to go with this particular project without having been talking to Djibril al-Ayad about The Future Fire [External Link], who picked up the original story in the first place. So, thank you, Djibril, for making me revisit notes and start making sense of them!

First of all, a reminder about my #BADD2015 post: Is It Time To Retrain… As A Fish?. If you follow the #BADD2015 link [External Link]), you should also be able to find posts by a bunch of other people about disablism and disability. There’s plenty of interesting blogs linked in there!

#BADD2015

This week seems to be a good time to do a recap of online presence, so I’ll now come out and admit to having presence on four more social media platforms, not all of which can be added to the list in the top corner or to the batch to the right. So the full list for hunting me down on general platforms looks like this:

  • I’m on the rather quiet Ello as Jo Thomas / Journeymouse [External Link]. I don’t post that much on Ello but I do put up annoncements of the site diary updates. Not much interacting going on as things stand.
  • I’m on Facebook quite a lot as Jo Thomas [External Link]. I’m unlikely to accept friend requests unless I’ve met you in person some time and have the brain power to recognise you. However, this doesn’t stop you following me or being able to respond to posts and such if you want to interact with me.
  • I’m on Google+ as Jo Thomas [External Link], although this is another one I don’t really do much on. I follow some people, +1 a few posts but rarely make comments or post anything of my own aside from the site diary posts.
  • I’m on Pinterest as Jo Thomas [External Link], although I don’t do a massive amount of pinning, you can find out about the things I covet and a few things that I own (I don’t generally admit to which is which on Pinterest, though).
  • I’m on Tsu as Jo Thomas / Journeymouse [External Link]. I’m new to this one, so haven’t really worked out how much attention I shall actually be paying – but please do say “hello”.
  • I’m on Twitter as Jo Thomas / Journeymouse [External Link] and I tweet fairly often. I’m not quite an every minute of the day tweeter but I can go through a few flurries of activity a day.

I’m also on three book / reading specific sites:

  • I’m on BookLikes as [External Link]. I try to post a quote from whatever I’ve been reading, writing, or editing (where it’s my work – I don’t have the right to do this for other people’s work) but this sometimes slips.
  • BookVibes [External Link] is done through my Twitter account, so I’m on as Jo Thomas / Journeymouse. There isn’t much interaction, as things stand.
  • I’m on Goodreads as Jo Thomas [External Link]. Questions are open if you feel a burning desire to ask me anything about being an author.

Final thing to mention is that my first post for The Finishing School [External Link] should be up on Wednesday, so expect me to be making some noise online about it during the week.

Monday 29th September, 2014

Okay, so I’m a day late. I decided to watch Magic Mike last night. There was a disappointing lack of rainbows and unicorns for something with “magic” in the title, though!

For those of you who haven’t heard me say it a million and one times already: I’ve had a book published by the name of 25 Ways To Kill A Werewolf, thanks to the help and support of Fox Spirit Books [External Link]. The linked page will (eventually) get you to the UK Amazon but most other “local” Amazon sites should also carry it. The ebooks (epub and mobi files) are now also available from Spacewitch [External Link].

However you get your copy (oh, please say you’ll buy a copy, I fancy a new tattoo and I’m pretty sure the NAS [External Link] would like the donation I intend to give them by the end of the year), I’d appreciate some more reviews – on Amazon or the Goodreads page [External Link] or the Booklikes page [External Link] – or anywhere else that does liking books! (And if you think of anywhere I should be boasting spreading the news about my book-baby, please let me know.)

Yeah, that intermission in there was a reminder for the Ink Plan. There should be an update on that tomorrow!

I’ve set up links to my Booklikes and Goodreads profiles to the right. If you want some teasers of what I’m working on at the moment (Fool If You Thnk It’s Over) or what I’m reading (Ash by Mary Gentle), I put a quote up on Booklikes after every bout of #amreading, #amwriting or #amediting.

Sunday Stories have been on pause again but I promise we’re back on this Sunday. The last story that came up as a Sunday Story was Second Date, which is in the same world as 25 Ways To Kill A Werewolf and Fool If You Think It’s Over.

For your “awww” moment, there’s now a photo for Finn’s 8th birthday on his page.

Sunday 21st September, 2014

Once more (of many more times) with feeling: I’ve had a book published by the name of 25 Ways To Kill A Werewolf, thanks to the help and support of Fox Spirit Books [External Link]. The linked page will (eventually) get you to the UK Amazon but most other “local” Amazon sites should also carry it. Eventually, the ebooks will also be available from Spacewitch [External Link] but the files haven’t been sorted out, yet.

The bad news is: you’ve missed both the ebook and paperback giveaways!

However, if you do get a chance to have a read through this not-so-weighty tome (it’s less than 300 pages / about 75,000 words), I’d appreciate some more reviews – on Amazon or the Goodreads page [External Link] or the Booklikes page [External Link] – or anywhere else that does liking books! (And if you think of anywhere I should be boasting spreading the news about my book-baby, please let me know in the comments.)

Having had a look at Booklikes, as of the week just gone, I’ve been using it to blog quotes from stuff I’ve been writing and stuff I’ve been reading. You can find my Booklikes blog here: [External Link]. I’ll get some sort of link to the Booklikes and Goodreads profiles somewhere on the right in the near future.

Sunday Stories have been on pause for this weekend as well while I got other stuff sorted. It’s not the most arduous thing in the world to send a tweet, I know, but it’s the sort fof small task that get’s way-laid when I’m sorting out the garden and preparing for a dog birthday walk (more on that at sompoint in the week, because Finn’s page will be getting updated with this year’s photo.) The last story that came up as a Sunday Story was Second Date, which is in the same world as 25 Ways To Kill A Werewolf and my Work In Progress (currently known as Fool If You Think It’s Over).
