Finally back online.

Yeah, so… Took a while to sort out the Internet connection – but now I’m back! The house is working out ok. There were a couple of internal water feature related issues but we’ve got it sorted.

As I was offline, I didn’t get the rest of mum‘s smallholding pieces up by Sunday 29th August. But they are up now. Check out Kids Will Be Kids and Lame Ducks.

“Pride and Prejudice”, as performed by Illyria [External Link] at Nostell Priory [External Link], was pretty good. Very funny and well arranged with a cast of 5. (Yes, 5!)

More next week.

Sunday 4th July, 2010

This week is an In Memoriam week.

For you delectation, I’ve transcribed three of Mum’s short non-fiction pieces about life on a small-holding. In other words: goats, geese and a raging horde of mice. These pieces were This is one of a sequence of short pieces about life on the small-holding. I think these are all from 1985 (it references me as being five) and I suspect that these were writing exercises rather than final pieces. There are actually two more pieces in the series and I’ll have them up in August.

An update in the In Memoriam subsection of my writing pages. Mum’s France trip has now been transcribed.

Yeah, that was pretty much it. Unless you want to share my joy over the Wales rugby team beating Italy (thank God(s)) and France winning the Grand Slam. Oh, also impressed with Scotland beating Ireland – they were better than expected!

Sunday 7th March, 2010

A general writing update, with two stories and something a little more special (to me, at least).

First, the good news! My New Dryas story, Three Little Pigs, has been accepted by Crossed Genres [External Link] for their Antihero issue (Issue 17, out 01/04/2010). Their current issue, by the way, is SteamPunk and came out 01/03/2010. Well worth a look.

Another off-site thing that may be of interest to you is the new web-site of my writing friend, Amber Fox. She’s moved from a blogspot address to her own [Link Defunct], with the blog title changing from Den in the Living Room to the optimistic Looking Up At The Sky.

On site, I’ve made two flash stories available through the site this week, Once A Month and Parthenogenesis. Please let me know how good or bad you find them to be!

And now the special bit.

I have just created a new category in my writing pages: In Memoriam. This will (eventually) be populated with a few surviving bits of my mum’s writing. This week, I have the scanned images of a non-fiction piece she wrote after a camping holiday in France in 1986. At some point, I’ll get round to doing a transcription and add it to the page. Please enjoy it.
