Well, I didn’t get back on track straight away. I helped my sister lay some laminate flooring and went to watch Brave – which was a lot of fun and very good. I’d definitely recommend it as a mother-daughter movie. That’s as good as my review is getting. Despite this, I did eventually get back into reworking stories and have moved on to the-short-story-that-wants-to-be-longer that goes by the working title of A Granted Wish. At the current rate, it looks like I’ll have something between 15,000 and 20,000 words when I’ve said all the characters want to say, putting it in the Novella camp. Still, I need to finish the thing before I start panicking about how I’m going to find it a new home…
My part in the Outlaw Bodies bloggery has been submitted again. Unless Djibril wants any nips and tucks, it’s ready to go. I don’t know when it goes live though – should be sometime between now and the anthology’s release date in November. As mentoponed last week, there’s more information on The Future Fire editor’s blog [External Link]. Also mentioned last week, anyone into reviewing can get hold of a review copy earlier – this month, in fact – if you talk to the editor, Djibril al-Ayad.
Also, for those of you into swords, Western Martial Arts and / or Historical European Martial Arts (almost all the same thing 😉 ), I’ve put up notes for two events in September. The BFHS Autumn Exchange will have an open to anyone generally interested (as oppose to anyone who’s been practising a while), so it’s worth a look if you have time to go to West Wales. If I’d known it was in West Wales before this weekend, I would have booked to go – ond sa i’n credu bydd y nhw siarad cymraeg a defnyddio cleddyfau! – but I wouldn’t get the time from work with this amount of notice.
