A plug for Coyote Con [External Link] and a plug for me!

I hope the First of May passed more easily than folk tradition would suggest. It’s apparently an inauspicious day to start anything but there are at least two things I hope go well!

First of all, Drollerie Press [External Link] (whose forums I play around on and whom have been kind enough to publish one of my short stories) is one of the organisations involved in Coyote Con [External Link], the “First Annual 31 Day Digital Author Conference”, which runs for the month of May. Go have a look and have a natter. But be aware that server time is East Coast America.

And the plug for me. The podcast (that’s audio recording / broadcast to thee and me) of Half-Breed is up on Cossmass Infinities [External Link]. It’s episode 5 and read by Paul W Campbell, who has a lovely voice. (I’m not just saying that.) If you enjoy it, you might like to know it first appeared in print in Twisted Tongue, Issue 11 [External Link], which is available in hardcopy or pdf formats and is well worth a browse.

Addendum: Almost forgot the Great SteamPunk Debate [External Link], which also opened on 01/05/2010. Have a browse and enjoy that, too!

Okay, we’ll start with the basics. Last week’s diary comment has been moved to the archive and the draft status of several stories on my projects page has been updated. However, there are a few more interesting changes to the latter that I would like to draw your attention to.

Fan fare, please! I’ve started putting electronic pen to paper for Iron Hand, the second book in the Hound of Kern Trilogy. Yes, it’s a bit presumptuous starting on Book 2 when I haven’t even got White Heart ready for rehoming. And yes, there are elves and dwarves in these books, so it’s going to be hard to rehome them. I have the urge to try, though, so I’ll keep going.

More importantly, from the public consumption point of view, both The Big, Bad Wolf and Half-Breed are now available. The links are below in the published list, on the same list on my Writing Home Page and on my projects page. (Nothing like self advertising!) But the important information is this:

  • The Twisted Tongue [External Link] issue that holds Half-Breed is available for free.
  • The e-book, Straying from the Path, from Drollerie Press [External Link] that holds The Big, Bad Wolf is not. It is, however, reasonably priced and comes packed with variations on the Little Red Riding Hood theme!

If you read either of these publications, please let me (and the publishers) know what you think.

And my final piece of writing news: Obsession has been accepted by the Hub Magazine [External Link]. I will let you know more as soon as a publishing date has been scheduled!

Sunday 20th April, 2008

There are a few small tweaks around the place, but nothing of major reporting importance outside of the new TABERNER line now added to the site. At the moment, I just have little more than the bare bones of the information up as given to me by Eric WINSTANLEY, but more will be going up as the line has suddenly become very interesting.

We’ve been digging around the records and the “new” Thomas TABERNER actually belongs to the original line and my own connection needs to be removed as we’ve confuzzled him with a Thomas TABERNER of our own. The swap has already taken place, so the alternative line has everything from the first Ralph / Richard down. But further updates will be happening in the next week or two, as we work out our line again and bring it further back in time. I need to get my own records in order before I can make change the web-site, but watch this space, etc.

And for my Writing round-up, you may notice on the home page for the said section and my projects page that I’ve had another acceptance. Half-breed is to be published by Twisted Tongue [External Link] in August. Other than that, I’m busy hacking The Elvish Virtues down to short stories – I’m almost there – and I’m now 3/8 through redrafting The Longest Night. Oh, and The Light Bearer has been put in long-term storage.
